OnRoute: Map & Trips is a free iOS application provided by OnRoute: Map & Trips Developer (the Service Provider). This policy explains how the app handles information when you save routes and travel records, use maps, receive reminders, or choose to use AI Chat.

Routes, journeys, route memories, trips, saved places, map-pin coordinates and notes, visited countries, expenses, packing items, reminders, and app settings are stored in the app's private local container. These records are not uploaded by the app merely because you create or edit them.

AI Chat consent is also stored locally. If you keep an AI Chat session across app restarts, the app persists its chat_id only together with the matching visible transcript. It never persists a chat_id by itself while hiding the server context from you.

The app uses Apple MapKit and requests location access only while you are using the app so it can show your current position and support map interactions you request. The app does not request background-location access and does not track your location in the background.

MapKit may use network access to load Apple map imagery and map data. Your current position is not saved as an app record unless you explicitly save a place or map pin; a saved pin contains its coordinates, title, and note in the app's local container.

AI Chat is optional and blocked until you explicitly agree to its data-sharing notice. Before consent, the app does not call /api/chat/create or /api/chat/request.

After consent, the two-step AI Chat flow sends the text of each user message, a chat_id used for conversation continuity, and a fixed OnRoute travel-planning system_prompt. The recipient is OpenRouter Chat proxy, a third-party AI chat service hosted on Railway at freeopenrouterchat-production.up.railway.app. These fields are used only to answer route and trip-planning questions and provide travel-organization suggestions.

The OpenRouter Chat proxy acts as a third-party processor/service provider for the Service Provider. It is required or expected to use the shared data only to provide the requested AI Chat service and to apply the same or equivalent privacy, confidentiality, and security protection described in this policy.

The AI Chat service may retain conversation history server-side, keyed by chat_id, to provide conversation continuity. The app does not upload routes, journeys, memories, trips, places, coordinates, country records, expenses, packing items, or settings to AI Chat unless you intentionally type that information into a message.

Reset Chat cancels any in-flight request and clears both the local chat_id and its matching visible transcript. It does not automatically create or send a replacement request.

You can revoke AI Chat data sharing in Settings. Revocation cancels any in-flight request, clears both the local chat_id and its matching visible transcript, and blocks /api/chat/create and /api/chat/request until you explicitly consent again.

After showing Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission prompt and subject to your choice, the app uses Branch and Meta/Facebook SDK infrastructure for attribution, deep linking, and related app-event or campaign measurement. These providers may process ordinary network information, device and app-event information, attribution or deep-link information, and an advertising identifier when iOS authorizes access. If you deny tracking permission, iOS does not provide the advertising identifier, and the app's core route and trip features remain available.

The Feedback Form prepares an email addressed to onroutemaptrips@gmail.com. It does not submit anything automatically: you must review and send the prepared message in your email app. The Service Provider receives only the name, reply address, message, and other information you choose to include.

Local app records remain until you delete them in the app or uninstall the app. AI Chat processors may retain request and session data as needed for service delivery, continuity, security, legal, and operational purposes. Reset Chat and Settings revocation clear the app's local AI session as described above; they are not a server-side deletion request because the AI service does not expose a deletion endpoint to the app.

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used, although no electronic transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. The app is not directed to children under 13, and the Service Provider does not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13.

This policy may be updated when app behavior or legal requirements change. The effective date shown above will be updated when material changes are published.
